2006 Regional Meet
The regional meet was held at Benzie High School this year and both teams qualified for the State Meet on November 4th at the Michigan International Speedway. Click here for photos from the regional meet...
Elk Rapids Invitational
It was a beautiful day this year for the Elk Rapids Invitational. Some of the top teams in the state were on hand for this annual "home-town" race. The girls took another first place trophy and the boys finsihed 3rd.

Conference Meet
The conference meet was held in East jordan this year. The ER Girl's took home the first place trophy, with Amanda Hammer placing first overall. The boy's team placed 2nd, with 4 of the Elks placing in the top 15.
At this point in the season the boy's team was ranked 7th in the state in division 3.

Portage Invitational
A beautiful sunny day at the Portage Invitational, where Amanda Hammer tied the school record for the 5k at 18:56. This school record was set by her sister Bethany in 2005.
The boys team came in 4th (30 teams) and the girls were 5th overall (25 teams) in the division 3 race.

32nd Annual Don Baese Invitational
Carson City - September 30, 2006
The boy's team took first place out of 27 schools in the large class "C" race. Amanda Hammer won the girl's race and the girl's team placed 4th overall. Boys Place 2nd and Girls 3rd at the Lowell Invitational - Amanda Hammer Finishes First Again
Amanda Hammer won the girls' race, Erik Sundberg was 9th and Thomas Lucas placed 15th. The boys team took home the trophy for second place in Division 2 and the girls placed 3rd. Click here to view the photos from this race...

Music from the 2006 Cross Country benefit concert online
The Chicago based Irish-Americana band Switchback astounded the audience at Peterman Auditorium Sunday night, at the August 13th benefit concert for the Elk Rapids Cross Country Team. The crowd gave Switchback, and performers Ron Kendzierski and Stephanie O' Dell, two emotional standing ovations. If you missed this year's concert, don't worry. The coaches, team members and parents would all like to thank Marty McCormack and Brian FitzGerald of Switchback, vocalist Stephanie O' Dell and fiddler Ron Kendzierski for their generosity and for the great concert to benefit this year's Elk Rapids Cross Country team..

Boys take the top spot at the Ogemaw Heights Invitational - Amanda Hammer takes 1st overall
The boys took first place in the small school division at this year's Ogemaw Heights Invitational meet. The boys' team also placed first overall for the meet, out-scoring the schools in division 1 and 2. The girls' team had another strong showing and placed 2nd in the small school division, with Amanda Hammer taking first overall in the girl's race. Click here to view the photo gallery...

Attention Middle School Cross Country and Running Club members!!
You will need a physical for practice and competition. Bring running gear for practice on the first day back.
Our first meet is Saturday 9-9-06 at the Charlevoix Mud Run (a fun season kick off).
Cross Country Camp 2006
The annual Elk Rapids Cross Country Camp was August 14 - 20, 2006 and it was a great success! The team spent the week at Cheboygan State Park and together the girls and boys ran close to 1,200 miles for the week. The culmination of all their work was the annual Dune Run on Saturday.
